Producers of the new Cilla Black musical ‘Cilla’, are now accepting applications for its Birmingham open auditions to find a performer to take on the iconic title role.
Open auditions to cast the show’s leading role will be held in cities across the country soon, including in Birmingham on May 9 at the New Alexandra Theatre
The producers of Cilla The Musical will hold national open auditions in the hunt to discover their ‘Cilla’ in the same way the star herself was plucked from obscurity before becoming the iconic Liverpudlian songbird
Whoever is chosen to be the lucky leading lady, will need to be a versatile performer as they follow in the footsteps of the beloved star, who by the age of just 25 was recognised as international singing sensation.
Bill Kenwright and Laurie Mansfield will produce the show with Cilla’s son, Robert Willis, as Executive Producer of the spectacular and heart-warming musical adaptation of the critically acclaimed ITV mini-series based on the early life of Cilla Black, by BAFTA award winner, Jeff Pope and which starred Sheridan Smith.
Featuring songs made famous by Black, as well as other 60s hits The production, directed by Bill Kenwright and Bob Tomson, opens at the Liverpool Empire on September 7 and then tour until visiting Edinburgh, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Wimbledon.
If successful it is rumoured the show will eventually transfer into the West End.
