Leicester Curve Theatre will be the premiere venue for Cameron Mackintosh Barnum Musical starring Brian Conley.
The new production, being put together by Mackintosh alongside ‘THE BODYGUARD musical producer Michael Harrison will open at the Midlands theatre in 2014. It follows testing of the re-imagined version of the show which was staged by the theatre impresario’s earlier this year at Chichester Festival Theatre.
TV and stand up funnyman BRIAN CONLEY will play the demanding title roll of PT Barnum, who is required to literally walk a tightrope across the audience every night. Conley famously walked out of ITV’s ‘I’m a celebrity get me out of here’ show last year.
Conley though is experienced at playing the leading role in gruelling musicals, including Me & My Girl, Jolson, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mackintosh’s version of Oliver where he played Fagin.
The new updated version of BARNUM, seen above in rehearsal, will open at Leicester’s the Curve Theatre in the summer of 2014, following even more re-working.
