Audiences will be tripping the light fantastic this month at the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle Under Lyme as the mirror ball begins to spin for the brand new play Kiss Me Quickstep.
The new play from Amanda Whittington the writer of The Thrill of Love and the hugely popular Be My Baby, looks at the real lives behind the fixed smiles and fake tan of the world of ballroom dance.
Justin and Jodie have finally made it to Blackpool’s national championships – via the motorway hard shoulder. Luka’s come all the way from Russia. Nancy’s been training for this since she was three. Lee and Samantha arrive on a wave of success.
But what if your dance-floor dreams are turning into a nightmare? How do you stop dancing to other people’s tunes? What can you do if your partner’s secret could cost you the crown? And, even when the whole world’s at your feet, it only takes one false step…
The show features a multi-talented cast of actors, dancers and even features the ultra recognisable dulcet tones of brummie Big Brother celebrity, and This Morning presenter, Alison Hammond.
Kiss Me Quickstep, is a New Vic/Oldham Colliseum co production directed by Theresa Heskins and runs from 4 – 19 March
