The Birmingham Repertory Theatre has revealed its Autumn and Winter season for 2017. At the same time The leading West Midlands producing theatre has also announced a new and ambitious fundraising campaign, REP First, to raise £1 million over the next three years to ensure the sustainability of The REP for future generations.
As Roxana Silbert, Artistic Director explains
“One of the things that makes me proud of The REP is our pioneering spirit; our burning commitment to secure the theatre for future audiences and artists.
“That’s what inspired us to embark upon an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise £1 million over the next three years. This money will allow us to continue to support new work, new artistic talent and to grow new audiences.
New Season Highlights
The programme is a solid line up. However our ‘Pick of the Season’ include National Theatre’s acclaimed production of Jane Eyre which will open the season.
Two major world premieres, including Douglas Maxwell’s new play, The Whip Hand, and the highly anticipated Nativity! The Musical by Coventry based Debbi Isitt
Birmingham writer Steven Camden brings to the stage his second play, I Knew You
More new writing is also showcased via the REP FOUNDRY artist development programme , with several new plays by Foundry graduates playing throughout the season
The season also features a couple of revivals of Duet For One starring Jemma Redgrave and Oliver Cotton, plus a a major revival of Terence Rattigan’s, The Winslow Boy directed by former REP artistic director, Rachel Kavanaugh.
The 2017 Christmas show this year will be a spectacular staging of Debbie Isitt’s The Hundred And One Dalmatians.
