Dog owners from across the West Midlands are being given the chance to appear alongside their four legged pals as the stars of a major new international touring opera coming to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre in November.
World class opera company, Ellen Kent, are holding doggy auditions to cast the important role Muzetta’s dog in the world famous opera, La Boheme.
The idea to cast a local mut for the appearance in the classic romantic opera was made by esteemed director of opera Ellen Kent, who said:
People say never work with children or animals but I love to do both! Many years ago, when we last did La Boheme, we asked local audiences to volunteer their pets – and it was a huge success
Puccini’s romantic masterpiece will be staged at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton on Monday 11 November 2013, for one night only. The epic AIDA, by Verdi will play at the venue the following nioght on Tuesday 12 November 2013
Dogs Allowed on the Casting Couch
Dogs being considered to appear in the show must be house trained, well-behaved and prferably a smaller breed. Owners must also be prepared to accompany their pet on stage in costume and look after him/her backstage during and in advance of the performance.
How to put forward your pet
To have your pooch considered you need to email a photograph of your dog to Sadie Williams at sadie@ellenkent.co.uk. Include your full name, address and contcat number plus details of your dog’s name, age, breed, height and weight.
