Potboiler is an emerging theatre company based in Stoke-on-Trent which creates spontaneous and exuberant character driven storytelling and live music events inspired by the stories of the local area and its people.
This new theatre company specialise in pop up theatre, taking place in local gathering spaces, such as pubs, cafés, and even working men’s club, The company is a collaboration between playwright Kat Boon and director Kat Hughes. and have attracted public funding from National Lottery through Arts Council England and Staffordshire County Council.
The companies launch project was Stories from Pub Corners, an evening of storytelling and acoustic music over a pint or two. Performed by 3 actors and a musician to an audience of drinkers in a side room of a pub, the evening featured the tales and complaints of peculiar pub characters,
This has recently been followed up with The Rhapsodies & The Inn, a two part theatrical takeover of Staffordshire pubs.
