An up and coming award winning West Midlands actress has cast a spell on producers of the forthcoming Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and landed a role in the new blockbuster west end production.
Central School of Speech & Drama trained Cherrelle Skeete from Kings Norton in Birmingham has already begun rehearsals for the mammoth production which opens in June, and stars 42 other actors – included fellow Midlands actress, Esther Smith from Stourbridge.
Cherrelle, who this week was also nominated for a Rising Star at the Screen Nation Awards, is already becoming a familiar face on stage and screen – most recently on TV Cherrelle played Lenny Henry’s sister in the TV drama ‘Danny and the Human Zoo’, based on Dudley born comedian’s upbringing in The West Midlands and his subsequent rise to fame in the 1970s.
However as well as TV, Cherrelle’s stage credits are undeniably credible too. Pictured here playing Young Jamie in Naomi Wallace’s And I And Silence at the Finborough Theatre. She then made her West End debut in the Lion King, and went on to play Sister Sally in The Amen Corner at the National Theatre, directed by Rufus Norris, in 2013. Later that year she played Viv in the hit BBC drama, Ordinary Lies, written by Danny Brocklehurst.
In July 2015 she returned to the National Theatre to play Katya in Three Days in The Country (as seen in main article picture), an adaptation of Ivan Turgenev’s passionate, moving comedy A Month in The Country, by Patrick Marber.
